Research has shown that father presence reduces many negative outcomes for at risk children. At Children’s Institute, Inc. (CII) we sought to address the problem of father absence by developing a comprehensive fatherhood program. This program has been validated by working with fathers of children who are at risk or have been in the system due to abuse and neglect. We feel that this model can be applied in a wide variety of community and faith based organizations.
We are soliciting applications from mental health professionals that would like to be trained in our intervention treatment model. Previous trainees have very positive statements about the training and have implemented the program in their agencies. And research has shown that the model is effective in increasing positive outcomes for children and families. The training program emphasizes group interaction with a component of therapeutic intervention for the children of the fathers.
We prefer to receive applications from individuals who are capable of implementing a program in their agency. However, individual consideration will be made among applicants who have experience in the field and would like to know the model to help them reach out to fathers and significant others of at risk children. Due to federal funding there is no cost to the participants of this training.
