Project Fatherhood to Launch Los Angeles Fatherhood Network

As CII’s 5-Year federally funded grant for Project Fatherhood slowly came to a close in 2011, we realized that advancing the vision of the program’s founder, the late Dr. Hershel K. Swinger, required ongoing interaction between not only Project Fatherhood staff and our sub-grantee agencies, but local community leaders within the Fatherhood movement. The Los Angeles Fatherhood Network was birthed out of a desire to gather together the fatherhood community-at-large and create a network to support and promote the importance of fathers’ involvement in lives of their children. The primary responsibility of the Los Angeles Fatherhood Network is to support the efforts of its member agencies, including:

  • Ongoing Technical Assistance: Technical Assistance will be offered to sub-grantee agencies to help mitigate challenges and obstacles to program implementation.
  • Inter-Agency Collaboration: LAFN members will have the opportunity to connect with other agencies to discuss how they can better serve fathers and their children through combined effort.
  • Curriculum Training: Priority application status will be offered for member agencies to attend 5-Day Trainings to help them grasp the importance of adding fatherhood as a vital element of their services for children and families.
  • Resource Sharing: Member agencies are eligible to receive materials and other tools to help with program implementation.
  • Clearing House of Funding Opportunities: Funding opportunities will be passed along to member agencies as soon as we receive notification.
